Sending Out the ‘Bat Signal’
This year’s block party will welcome visitors from across Mason County and even a superhero.
In the days leading up to the event, “Batman” was invited to visit every Mason County School, sharing a message to “never give up and believe in yourself,” according to Dylan Handley of the city’s festivals and events committee.
According to Handley, the idea for “Batman’s visit” stemmed from last year’s special party guest/semitruck, “Optimus Prime,” and his anti-bullying tour, which ultimately inspired block party organizers to expand a similar outreach into 2025. Partnering with John Buckland’s Heroes 4 Higher program, this year’s presentations also addressed vaping dangers and mental health awareness.
According to Handley, “Batman’s” visits to schools came about with support and collaboration from Mason County Schools, including the superintendent, board of education members and local educators, while the financial support was provided by the Mason County Commission.
For those who missed him, Handley confirmed the Dark Knight will make an appearance at Monday’s block party.

Ready to ‘Party’
Much like the block party itself, the superhero’s special appearance was made possible by a community coming together to give back and create something memorable for local children. For decades, the Halloween Block Party has been a tradition for families — and it continues to offer a fun, free celebration for everyone.

All churches, civic organizations and businesses are encouraged to set up a booth to hand out candy, merch, etc., according to Handley.
