NEW HAVEN — The incumbent mayor and a former council member will face off for the top post when the New Haven municipal election is held in May, according to a clerk at the town hall.
Mayor Phil Serevicz and Jessica Rickard, a previous council member, will run for the mayor’s seat. Running unopposed for her spot is incumbent Recorder Becky Benson.
Six candidates will vie for five council seats including all incumbents. Hoping to be re-elected are Steve Carpenter, Stephen Ohlinger, Jr., Jenn Russell, Bruce Adams, and Monica Mitchell. Also running is Donnie Riffle.
The filing period ended January 27. The municipal election will be held on the county primary election day this year, May 14, and officials will take office on July 1.
