POINT PLEASANT — October arriving in Mason County means a lesson in history via Battle Days, which recognizes the area’s revolutionary history and recounts the Battle of Point Pleasant, on Oct. 10, 1774.
The event returned earlier this month, complete with a candlelight tour of Tu-Endie-Wei State Park and the Mansion House, living history exhibits with historic reenactors, the annual parade in downtown Point Pleasant, the Colonial Ball, Colonial Church Service, and finally, the traditional memorial service, also held at the park, near The Magazine Marker.
Once again, Mason County Extra Edition partnered with longtime community photographer, Ed Lowe, who captured each day of the festival.
Next year will mark the 250th anniversary of the Battle, which has been debated by some, though not all, to be the first battle of the Revolution.
