Both Point Pleasant and Wahama entered this week with one win, while Hannan kicked off its season on Friday night, as football returned for all of Mason County’s high schools this week.
The cross-river rivalry between Point Pleasant and Gallia Academy took place at Ohio Valley Bank Track and Field at PPJ/SHS with the Blue Devils taking home the Battle of the Bridge trophy after beating the Big Blacks 42-12. The Big Blacks fall to 1-1 and next travel to Scott on Friday, Sept. 15.

The Wahama White Falcons improved to 2-0 after beating the Doddridge County Bulldogs 50 -18, at home in Mason. Next Friday, Sept. 8, the White Falcons take on Ravenswood, also at home.
Meanwhile, the Hannan Wildcats opened the 2023 football season on the road Friday, falling to the Paden City Wildcats 73-6. Hannan next plays Montcalm for its home opener in Ashton, on Friday, Sept. 22.
